Small carved boxwood statuette of a bearded man in flowing robes, one arm raised, face turned upward, on a rocky base.

Saint John, Boxwood Statuette, ca. 1560

A small boxwood statuette shows a bearded, long-haired man in a flowing draped robe, one arm raised high and his face turned upward as if speaking or calling out. The carved folds of the cloak spiral around his body and pool at a rocky base, with the wood's warm, honey-brown grain visible throughout.
