An engraved print shows a bearded old man in a fur-trimmed hat and heavy fur-lined cloak, raising one hand as he sits in a carved chair beside a table holding a vase and a bowl. Dutch verses fill the lower margin beneath the label IANUARIUS, and a window at right frames a distant landscape with a bare tree.
