Saints Cosmas and Damian performing a leg transplant, oil painting ca. 1495
A gilded Gothic-style panel shows two haloed saints in red robes bending over a sleeping man in a curtained bed, while a kneeling attendant in white holds a candle. A dark-skinned leg lies on the bed beside a bare white leg, and a robed figure at right tends the operation under a carved arch.
