The Lamentation over the Dead Christ

Dark painted scene of a crucifixion hill under a stormy sky: a nude figure of Christ hangs on a central cross, and a ladder leans against a second cross at left. Mourners kneel around a pale body stretched across the foreground, lit by warm light against shadowy figures and a distant city.
