Bodhisattva Maitreya, the Buddha of the Future
A gilded copper alloy sculpture of a standing bodhisattva with a tall, ornate crown, bare upper torso, and jeweled necklace and armbands. He wears a long, pleated lower garment with a sash tied at the waist, and holds one hand raised near the chest while the other hangs at his side. The gilding is worn in places, revealing darker metal beneath.
