Anatomy of a Horse, Engraved Plate by Andrew Snape (1687)

An engraved anatomical plate shows a horse standing in a landscape, its muscles and skeletal structures exposed and labelled with letters along the neck, shoulder and hindquarters. A dragonfly hovers above, and a rocky hill and sparse trees frame the scene in fine black-and-white line work.
