Painting of an anatomy lesson: a corpse's scalp is being opened at the head while a man in black and white collar stands beside it.

The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Joan Deijman, 1656

A dark-toned anatomy lesson shows a standing man in black with a white collar looking toward the viewer, beside a corpse on a wooden table, its scalp being opened by a hand at the top of its head. A white cloth covers its legs, and the signature 'Rembrandt f. 1656' appears at lower left.
