Color woodblock print of a fierce bearded figure in a dark robe and tall cap, arm raised, standing on a pale background.

Actor Ichikawa Danzo III as Shoki the Demon Queller, 1768

A standing figure in a dark patterned robe with a wide sash and boots strikes a dramatic pose, one arm raised and a fan-like object in hand. His fierce, bearded face and tall black cap mark him as a stage demon-queller. Printed in color on a pale ground, the hosoban sheet shows bold outlines and flat areas of ink and color.
