Painting of a vase with sunflowers in yellow and orange tones against a turquoise background, on an ochre tabletop.

Vincent van Gogh, Sunflowers (1889), still life painting

A still life of a vase holding a dense bunch of sunflowers, some in full bloom and others with brown centres, set against a turquoise background on a warm ochre tabletop. Thick, visible brushstrokes build the petals and the pale yellow vase, which carries the signature Vincent in its lower part.
