Rich Man and Poor Lazarus, woodcut, 1541

A black-and-white woodcut shows a richly dressed man seated at left among dogs, while a ragged, sore-covered beggar sits at right beside a feast in an arched hall above. Angels carry a small soul through clouds at upper left, a distant town lies beyond the colonnade, and a monogram and the date 1541 appear at lower right.
