Peasant Woman Cooking by a Fireplace

A woman in a dark blue dress and black cap kneels before a glowing hearth, holding a long-handled pan over the flames. A hanging iron kettle hangs at left, and a small white bowl rests on the earthen floor. Loose, thick brushwork and earthy greens and browns give the scene a warm, intimate glow.
