Obelisk at Heliopolis, Egypt, after David Roberts (1848)

A tall, tapering obelisk covered in carved hieroglyphic columns rises at left of center against a pale, cloudy sky. Small figures in robes walk across the grassy foreground, with palm trees and distant pyramids on the flat horizon. The tinted lithograph uses soft washes of blue, green and ochre.
