Engraving of a near-naked man bound on a grate over flames while soldiers and an angel look on.

Martyrdom of St. Lawrence

An engraved print shows a nude, bound man stretched on a grate above a fire, with a torch held over him by a figure at right. Armored soldiers and a robed attendant crowd the scene, while a winged putto and a cloud-borne figure hover above, and a draped saint stands on a pedestal at the top right. Dense crosshatching gives the sky and bodies dramatic shadow.

Look closer: A small winged putto is visible among the clouds at the top left, near the upper edge.
