Flowers and Trees, Six-Panel Screen by Watanabe Shiko

A two-panel folding screen on gold ground shows flowering plants arranged across the lower and middle registers. White and red hollyhocks rise on the right beside poppies and wisteria hanging from a gnarled branch, while lilies and small blue blossoms gather on the left. Fine ink outlines and mineral color describe each petal.
