Woodcut of a baobab fruit on a book page, one whole and one cut open to show seeds in chambers, with the header Fructus Baobab.

Baobab fruit, woodcut from De plantis Aegypti (1592)

A woodcut illustration on a printed book page shows a baobab fruit, one whole and rounded at the top with a stalk, the other cut lengthwise to reveal numerous seeds in pale chambers. Hatched linework models the fruit's ridged surface, and the running header reads "Fructus Baobab" above faint show-through text.
