California, marble bust by Hiram Powers
A white marble bust of a woman with her hair drawn back in soft waves, her head turned slightly downward and her gaze lowered. The bust is cut off at the upper chest and shoulders and rests on a stepped pedestal of pale stone over dark marble. The surface is smooth and polished, with subtle shading across the cheeks and shoulders.
