Mad in Bedlam - Hogarth engraving, 1735

A dense engraving titled Mad in Bedlam shows a man slumped on the floor of a barred ward, tended by attendants while a woman in a white gown stands nearby. Around them, other patients crowd benches and cells, their gestures wild, under a shadowy, cross-hatched interior.
